Inside the ® Beam-set

How the detection beam works…

An active infra-red beam is an accurate method for the detection of people and vehicles in any kind of weather. We use this technology in our Parabeam® Beam-set because it is less prone to false activations. The Beam Emitter, typically mounted 800mm above ground for our smaller beam-units, sends an invisible beam of light to the Beam Communicator, located up to 35m away. These two units form the beam-set. Whenever the beam is interrupted at any point along its path, an alert is generated.

The image below shows how the projected beam has a divergence angle that ensures the receiving beam-unit is always “seeing the projected spot” unless poorly aligned. Some movement is tolerated because of this beam divergence.
